ISLAMABAD, April 21: The minister for environment and rural development, Shahida Jamil, has said the government will set up a waste management system for disposing of industrial waste.

In an interview with this agency, Shahida Jamil said due to heavy expenditures incurring on waste disposal only a few industrial units could afford it.

“The first issue is to design a system for providing the waste disposal facility to the entrepreneurs,” she said.

The minister maintained that the government had set certain environmental quality standards but without a mechanism, it would not be possible to adhere to the standards.—APP
