PESHAWAR, April 21: NWFP Governor Lt-Gen Syed Iftikhar Hussain (Rtd) will inaugurate the refurbished rake of Awam Express at Peshawar Cantt Railway Station on Monday.

A press release of Pakistan Railways reads that the refurbished rake consists of air-conditioned lower and economy class coaches, in addition to power van which has also been attached to provide uninterrupted supply of electricity for efficient working of air conditioning system, fans and lights.

The rake was refurbished at the Pakistan Railways Carriage Factory, Islamabad, where, under a phased programme, trains like Khyber Mail, Chenab Express, Karachi Express, Shalimar, railcars running between Rawalpindi-Lahore, Quetta Express etc., have so far been refurbished with a view to providing better facilities to the travelling public.

The NWFP Governor will unveil the plaque to commemorate the placement of a “Steam Locomotive” at the Railway Station Cantt as a part of the centennial celebrations of the North West Frontier Province.—APP
