ISLAMABAD, April 12: Prof Manzoorul Haq’s collection of invaluable books was handed over to the national archives of Pakistan in an impressive ceremony, here on Friday.

The Professor, a renowned worker of Tehrik-i-Pakistan and close aide of Quaid-i-Azam collected these books during his life time and has now donated this valuable asset to the government.

“Bainama” a manuscript of Mughal era, which had signatures of eight Mughal Emperors was the centre of attraction at the exhibition, which followed the handing over ceremony.

The collection has five exclusive books on the history of Rawalpindi and minutes of Muslim League meetings attended by Prof Manzoor himself.

Brig Ahmad Raza Siddiqi, son of Prof Manzoor said his father was offered millions of rupees for these rare documents, but had turned down the offer.

He lamented the deplorable condition of the national archives of Pakistan and requested to the authorities concerned to take care of this rare treasure of his family.

Brig (Rtd) Syed Babar, Principal Cadet College Hasanabdal, where Prof Manzoor taught for 26 years said “ I had never met a teacher who was so kind and concerned about his students”.

The minister for communication, Lt (Rtd) Javed Ashraf Kazi said Prof Manzoor was a teacher who could not be ignored once you met him.
