QUETTA, April 12: The Balochistan Bar Association took out a procession on Friday to protest against President Gen Pervez Musharraf’s decision to hold referendum and his planned Quetta visit in connection with his mobilization campaign.

The lawyers, led by BBA President Ali Ahmed Kurd and carrying placards inscribed with anti-government slogans, marc-hed through the main streets of Quetta. They were also holding a copy of the 73 Constitution.

After taking round of the city streets they gathered in front of the Quetta Press Club where the President of the Bar Association addressed them.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ali Ahmed Kurd strongly opposed the referendum decision and said the lawyers would oppose this action of Gen Musharraf.

“Public money is being used for holding Gen Musharraf’s public meeting and the government machinery is also being used for this purpose in clear violation of the law,” he said.
