SARGODHA, April 6: The Misran village, hit by tornado last year, has assumed a new look with rebuilding and development at a cost of Rs8 million.
This was stated by district Nazim Malik Amjad Ali Noon while inaugurating some development projects including the one of the Misran village.
Taking keen interest in the rehabilitation of the village, the Nazim said the government had spent Rs3.5 million on the six-kilometre Sardarpur Noon to Misran village Road which was in an urgent need of repair.
He hailed the contribution of non-government organizations (NGOs) and philanthropists in the reconstruction of the village.
He maintained an amount of Rs 1.1 million had been consumed on the reconstruction of primary schools for boys and girls while drainage project took Rs1.8 million.
A community centre was constructed with an expenditure of Rs800,000, he said. He announced that the government would extend the relief package to the people.
CRISIS CENTRES: The Punjab government has set up crisis centres to redress the problems of women while family courts are being established to thwart violence against them.
This was stated by Punjab social minister Shaheen Ateequr Rahman while addressing the participants on the international women day in Sargodha on Saturday.
She said around 40,000 women had been elected councillors to safeguard their legitimate rights.
She urged the public to change their social trends and thinking about the deserving people.
The women played a vital role in the progress of the society, the minister insisted.
