ISLAMABAD, April 3: The new secretary-general of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc), Q.A.M.A. Rahim met President Pervez Musharraf here on Wednesday.

The president congratulated Rahim on assuming his important responsibility and wished him every success.

The Saarc secretary-general, briefed the president about the progress in the implementation of the decisions taken at the Eleventh Saarc Summit held in Kathmandu in January 2002.

President Musharraf assured Rahim of Pakistan’s full cooperation in the realization of SAARC’s objectives.

Rahim, who had served as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Islamabad during the years 1993-1998, took over as the Seventh SAARC secretary-general in January this year.
