BAHAWALNAGAR, April 3: One of the two robbers, shot dead by the police in a three-hour long encounter in Minchanabad on Tuesday, was identified as an offender, police claimed on Wednesday.

Ghumandpura police station DSP Khadim Husain Niazi, Minchanabad police station SHOs Baba Hashim and Malik Yousaf were among the policemen involved in shootout.

The police said Amjad killed his two relatives over rivalry. He also threatened Ghumandpura police station SHO with dire consequences for searching his father’s house, they added.

Amjad’s accomplice was identified as Muhammad Rafiq.

People took a sigh of relief over the death of Amjad.

GOVERNOR: The district has been decorated ahead of the Punjab governor’s much awaited visit on Thursday (today).

The governor had postponed his visit five times.
