ISLAMABAD, March 22: President Gen Pervez Musharraf has given special remission in the sentences of the prisoners on the occasion of Pakistan Day.

According to an official statement, special remission of 90 days has been granted to the prisoners convicted for life imprisonment and 45 days to all other convicts, except the condemned prisoners.

The statement further said total remission had been granted to male prisoners, who were 65 years and above and had undergone at least one-third of their substantive sentence of imprisonment.

Women prisoners, who were 60 years and above and juveniles under 18 years of age have also been granted total remission in their sentence on the condition that they have completed at least one- third of their imprisonment.
