BADIN, March 18: Some 13 people were injured seriously when a passenger coach fell into a ditch here on Monday.

The passenger coach (PE-3099), coming from Hyderabad, turned turtle when its tie rod was broken near the police line, here.

Those injured were identified as Haseena, 8, Ashiq Ali, 8, Sain Bux, 2, Ms Mir Zadi, Ms Bhanoo, Asyat, Ms Taghi, Mohammad Umer, Ghulam Rasool, Barkat, Majeed Rahimoon, Soomar Shah, and Tanji.

The injured were taken to Badin Civil Hospital.

The driver of the coach, Abdul Qayoom, escaped from the scene.

PROTEST: About 300 villagers of Sachoo Athelo village, Tando Bago taluka, Badin district, staged a protest demonstration and sit-in at the DPO chowk on Monday against the alleged atrocities of a landlord.

The protesters, led by Alam Chandio, Allah Bux, Latif, Khairoo Urs and others, were raising slogans against the local landlord, his sons and other accomplices.

They alleged that the landlord wanted to eject the villagers from their homes by force with the intent to excavate new watercourse from the village.

Later, the villagers held a press conference where they accused the landlord, Haji Sakhi Jamali, Ghulam Nabi, Mustafa and Porho Jamali, who on the instigation of the Nazim, Chhabrlo union council, had struck their village with axes and lathes and had harassed the villagers to vacate their houses and shelters for the construction of the watercourse in between the village.

The villagers said that the landlord had threatened them of dire consequences if they did not vacate their homes.
