HANGU, March 14: District Nazim Pir Haider Ali Shah has, under Section 144 CrPC, banned the assembly of five or more persons, aerial firing, use of crackers, delivery of emotional and objectionable speeches and publication of objectionable material, use of loudspeakers and display of arms in the district.

Wall chalking, pillion riding, sale of patrol and diesel in cans or bottles and occupation of rooftops by civilians have also been banned to ensure peace during Muharram, said an official statement issued on Wed-nesday.

The order shall remain enforced for 60 days.

Meanwhile, the Hangu police superintendent, talking to a delegation of traders at his office, called upon the business community to play a positive role in maintaining peace during the month.

The SP urged the traders to keep an eye on the activities of miscreants and inform the law enforcement agencies about any illegal activity taking place in the district to ensure peace and sectarian harmony.

The traders assured the SP of their all out cooperation in the  maintenance of law and order.

#OUR HARIPUR CORRESPONDENT ADDS:# A meeting, presided over by District Nazim Dr Raja Amer Zaman, reviewed the law and order situation and arrangements for maintaining normalcy during the month and took measures in this regard.

It was decided that the District Peace Committee would be made more effective so that it could play its role in bringing sectarian harmony and helping the law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order in the district.
