LAHORE, March 13: Openers Saeed Anwar, Imran Farhat and pacer Wasim Akram are likely to be named in the Pakistan team for the Sharjah Cup to be played at Sharjah from April 6.

A training camp to pick the Pakistan team for the tour is being held at the Gaddafi Stadium from March 22.

Saeed Anwar who was unfit when Pakistan toured Bangladesh in January this year has regained fitness and is now available for selection The former skipper had been given a green signal by the selectors for the training camp, the sources said.

Wasim Akram dropped from the team after the three one- day match series against the West Indies played at the neutral venue Sharjah in February is also a strong candidate to regain berth in the team.

His absence in the ATC final was felt by the team management as the Sri Lankan mauled the Pakistani bowlers piling up 528 in the first innings.

Imran Farhat was selected in the team which had to play the home series against New Zealand which was later cancelled due to the Sept 11 attacks in USA.

However Farhat did not find a place in the team which later toured Bangladesh and is tipped to replace Taufiq  Umer who failed to deliver in the ATC  final.

Chances of off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq making the squad for Sharjah Cup seems doubtful as the team management was in favour of Shoaib Malik for one-dayers.
