NEW YORK, Oct 29: Pakistan’s foreign office has decided to shutdown down its’ consulate in San Francisco just a year after it opened.

The San Francisco consulate was opened to help facilitate the burgeoning Information Technology business in Pakistan. It was being run by Pakistan’s IT ministry.

But following the down turn in the American IT technology business and hit the industry took even before the Sept 11 attacks the viability of such a consulate. untenable

Consul General Toheed Ahmed who was running the Pakistan mission there has sought three months time to wind up the office there.

He did not offer any explanation as to why such a long period is needed to wind up the consulate in San Francisco as Pakistan’s consulate in Los Angeles could easily pick up the slack.
