Teenager Sami shines

KARACHI, Nov 24: Sami Faridi, a 14-year-old slow left-armer, claimed five for 14 as Hamdam CC defeated Saddar Town by four wickets to move ahead in the Aga Khan Gymkhana cricket tournament at AKG Ground here Saturday.

Saddar Town, who elected to bat first, were shot out for 115 in 24.5 overs. Habib-ur-Rehman top-scored with 34 while Haq Nawaz contributed 22.

Sami was ably supported by fellow left-arm spinner Fahim Ahmed Sr, who captured two for 11.

Hamdam CC, in reply, lost six wickets before overhauling Saddar Town’s score. They eventually made 118 in 19.2 overs with Imran Khan stroking 44, including five boundaries.

David Dcruze, a right-arm medium-pacer, took three for 20.
