PPP to remain part of ARD: Asif

Published November 25, 2001

NOWSHERA, Nov 24: Asserting that the Pakistan People’s Party would continue to remain part of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy, Asif Ali Zardari, PPP’s jailed former senator, has said that the “government conspiracy” to effect rifts in the ARD was doomed.

He was talking to newsmen on the occasion of the hearing of the assets reference case against him at the Attock Fort on Saturday.

Pakistan People’s Party leaders including Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti, Sardar Ali Khan, Rahim Dad Khan and others were also present on the occasion.

Giving a call to the party workers to prepare for the general elections, Asif Zardari said that the PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto would soon return to the country.

The government’s intrigues to thwart the struggle initiated for the restoration of democracy in the country would fail, he said, adding that the PPP would continue to work for democracy from the platform of the ARD.
