Donald named for Australia tour

CENTURION (South Africa), Nov 23: Fast bowler Allan Donald has been included in the South African squad to tour Australia next month.

The 35-year-old, South Africa’s most prolific Test wicket-taker with 325, has overcome illness and injuries to be named among 15 players who will leave on Dec 1 to contest three Tests and a one-day series.

“Allan has had a fitness test this week, he’s bowled in the nets and he’s fine,” selection convenor Rushdi Magiet told reporters.

Steve Elworthy, the 36-year-old fast bowler who has taken 31 wickets at an average of 14 in domestic cricket this season, was also named in the squad.

Squad: Shaun Pollock (captain), Nicky Boje, Mark Boucher, Boeta Dippenaar, Allan Donald, Steve Elworthy, Herschelle Gibbs, Mornantau Hayward, Jacques Kallis, Gary Kirsten, Lance Klusener, Neil McKenzie, Makhaya Ntini, Justin Ontong, Jacques Rudolph.
