BUNER, Nov 18: The people here in Buner had to experience unprecedented rise in the prices of daily use items on the first day of Ramazan.

The main business centre — Swari, where the weekly bazaar was in full swing on Saturday, prices of almost all items registered a sharp increase.

The people who had come here from far flung areas were disappointed to see a sharp increase in the prices of all commodities.

For instance tomato was selling at Rs20 per kg instead of Rs15 per kg, potato at Rs14 against Rs10 per kg, onion Rs10 against Rs7, peas Rs20 instead of Rs15, ladyfinger Rs20 instead of Rs15, cauliflower Rs10 instead of Rs6, radish Rs20 instead of Rs10 per five kilograms and mustard and cabbage were being sold at Rs5 instead of Rs3 per pack.

The prices of the fruits have also registered a very sharp increase.

Pomegranate, guavas, apple, banana and all other fruits were beyond the reach of the common man.

Prices of basin, kabab, pakora, pickle, meet, chicken, dal, rice, tea leaf, sugar and rice were also on the mercy of the profiteers.

People blamed government for its failure to control the prices of essential items and punish the profiteers.
