VEHARI, Nov 16: The Tanzim-i-Asataza Pakistan has condemned the government move to empower district Nazim to appoint college principals.

Talking to newsmen here on Friday, Tanzim district president Hameedullah Khan termed the decision an anti-education policy of the government.

He warned that the entire educational set up in the country would collapse if the government did not withdraw the decision. This would also provoke politicians to take hold of educational institutions which would adversely affect the education standard, he added.

Mr Khan said most of the Nazims lack experience and requisite education to appoint men who could look after the administrative affairs of colleges.

If the government was so keen to involve Nazims in the education sector, it should be made mandatory for the provincial education secretary to appoint college principals with Nazim’s consultation, he said.

RALLY: The Pak-Afghan Defence Council staged a protest rally against the US attack on Afghanistan.

The participants in the rally raised slogans against America and government.

Addressing the participants at the Pakistan Chowk, their leaders expressed solidarity with Afghan people and condemned the US for killing innocent people.

They demanded that the government should quit immediately.

They also demanded leaders of various religious parties should be released.

Later, they dispersed peacefully.
