ADELAIDE (Australia), Nov 15: Captain Stephen Fleming has challenged his fringe seam bowlers to earn their places in New Zealand’s attack for next week’s second Test against Australia.

New Zealand, who almost snatched an unlikely victory in the drawn first Test in Brisbane, play South Australia in a four-day tour match starting here Friday.

Fleming, batsman Nathan Astle and all-rounder Chris Cairns, who has only returned to the side this month after a year-long knee injury, will be rested ahead of the second Test starting in Hobart Nov 22.

Teams:

New Zealand: Craig McMillan (captain), Matthew Bell, Shane Bond, Chris Martin, Adam Parore, Mark Richardson, Mathew Sinclair, Glen Sulzberger, Daryl Tuffey, Daniel Vettori, Lou Vincent, Nathan Astle (12th man).

South Australia: Darren Lehmann (captain), Greg Blewett, David Fitzgerald, Shane Deitz, Chris Davies, Ben Higgins, Brad Young, Graham Manou, Mike Smith, Peter McIntyre, Paul Rofe, Mark Harrity, (12th man to be named).—Reuters
