PESHAWAR, Oct 9: An accountability court on Tuesday convicted in absentia two brothers of former tribal senator, Haji Gul Sher, and sentenced them to three years rigorous imprisonment.
The convicts, Haji Juma Sher and Haji Khatam Gul, were wanted by the National Accountability Bureau for their involvement in the Ring Road land scam in which Gul Sher is the prime accused.
NAB had filed a reference against them under section 31-A of the NAB Ordinance, 1999, under which an absconding accused could be sentenced up to three years.
Presided by Ataul Khan, the court had earlier reserved its judgment.
