PESHAWAR, Sept 30: The Arts and Cultural Department of Islamic Republic of Iran has invited the youth of Pakistan to participate in a competition of paintings, poetry, reminiscences, short story and essay writing, being organised to commemorate the martyrdom of Mohammad Al-Daurah, a 10-year-old Palestinian youth shot dead on Oct 1, 2000 by the occupant Israeli forces in the lap of his father.

According to a statement issued by the Iran Cultural Centre in Peshawar, all boys of nine to 15 years of age could take part in the competition. They are advised to send their creative work by Feb 1, 2002 to the arts and cultural ministry in Tehran or to the Iran Cultural Centre in Peshawar.

The competition, which is being organised at the Islamic world level, is dedicated to the “Role of the Palestinian youth in the current Intifada”.

The organisers termed the Palestine a ‘land of blood and love’ and urged the Pakistan youth to commemorate the martyrdom of Al-Daurah by taking part in the competition.

The world had witnessed the live footage of the cruelty of the Israeli forces a year ago.
