NEW DELHI, Oct 14: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Saturday that Delhi would test Pakistan’s help against terrorism only after giving Islamabad “credible evidence” of elements from across the border that Indian officials says are responsible for the Mumbai train blasts in July.

Press Trust of India quoted Dr Singh as saying on his way home from from a tour of Britain and Finland, that world support was growing for New Delhi’s view that terror attacks could not be justified by invoking “so-called root causes”.

As such no country should be used to “launch, aid and abet” terrorist acts directed against India, he said, obliquely referring to the Kashmir dispute and its violent fallout for Delhi.

“Before we give them evidence, what is the use of talking about it?” he told reporters. PTI said he was responding to querries on “Pakistan’s repeated claims that there was no substance in India’s contention about the involvement of ISI and terror groups based in Pakistan in the Mumbai train bombings.”

Dr Singh said : “We have to give them evidence. We will give them credible evidence. We feel that there is involvement of elements (based) in Pakistan.”We will test them once we have given them evidence.”
