HARIPUR, May 1: Four people, including a woman and two minor children, of a family were shot dead on Saturday in the Khanpur area, about 42km from here. The motive behind the killings is said to be old enmity. Khanpur police said Mohammad Zaman, with his five members of his family, was going in a jeep to village Narotha Khanpur after attending a court hearing in a murder case when the rival group attacked them, killing four of them on the spot.

The dead were identified as Nazma Bibi, wife of Mohammad Zaman, three-year-old daughter Aneeqa Bibi, six-month-old son Jawad Ahmad and a relative Mohammad Aslam. Mohammad Zaman and another relative escaped unhurt.

Police said Mohammad Zaman and his son Kamran Ahmad had been charged in a murder case in November 2003. Mohammad Zaman was out on bail while his son is still in jail.
