LAHORE, April 28: Test opener Taufiq Umar hit a half-century and leg-spinner Sohail Ahmed grabbed four wickets to help Lahore Eagles beat Multan Tigers by 22 runs in the Twenty20 Cup match at the Qadhafi Stadium on Thursday.

Batting first, Eagles piled up 183 for nine in 20 overs thanks to a fine knock of 64 by Taufiq. He struck nine boundaries and one six in his 41-ball innings.

One significant feature of Eagles’ innings was the number of no-balls and wides conceded by the Tigers. No less than two dozen no-balls were bowled with wides amounting to six.

In reply, Multan Tigers managed 161 for nine in their stipulated overs with opener Kamran Hussain contributing 66 off 39 balls. His knock included eight fours and two sixes.

Sohail bagged four for 30.
