PESHAWAR, April 28: NWFP Senior Minister Sirajul Haq has said Islam called for providing proper education and training to women and the MMA government was doing everything possible to imrove the standard of living of women and was working for their welfare.

He was speaking at a ceremony held for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding ceremony at his office in the Civil Secretariat here on Thursday.

Under the agreement signed by the social welfare department and the Malakand Rural Development Project (MRDP), education and training facilities will be provided to women in the the project area Swat, Shangla, Buner and Malakand.

It includes arrangements for admission and scholarships from primary to higher education, sewing, cutting, embroidery, knitting, fabric painting, designing, dyeing and candle making, said an official handout.

The MoU was signed by Noorul Haq, provincial secretary, Social Welfare, and Muhammad Ishfaq, project director, MRDP, Senior Minister for Population Welfare Kashif Azam Chishti, Minister for Social Welfare Hafiz Hashmat Khan, secretaries for population welfare, planning and development departments, Director Social Welfare Dr Fakhre Alam Khan and Additional Secretary Gulzeb Khan attended the ceremony.
