HYDERABAD, April 27: Activists of the People’s Party Parliamentarians from Nawabshah and Hyderabad held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday against the arrest of party MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio. Speaking on the occasion, MPA Farheen Mughal, Allah Warayo, Hina Dastagir, Ms Firdous Abro, Ehsan Abro and others alleged that MPA Chandio had been implicated in a false case at the behest of Sindh chief minister’s adviser, Ghulam Rasool Unnar. They claimed that PPP activists in Sindh were being victimized.

MMA: Activists of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal held a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Wednesday against an attack on a Milad-i-Mustafa conference on Friday and police failure to arrest the miscreants.

Speaking on the occasion, MNA Dr Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair warned that if the assailants were not arrested, a protest movement would be launched against the Sindh government for its partisan attitude.

He accused the Muttahida Qaumi Movement of attacking the conference in presence of police. He also criticized President Gen Pervez Musharraf for supporting the MQM.

He said a photographer who had published a photograph of the attackers in his newspaper was being issued threats of dire consequences.

Dr Zubair, who is the senior vice-president of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam, alleged that the government was using police in furtherance of its designs.

He announced that “Yaum-i-Makam-i-Mustafa” would be observed in Hyderabad on April 29.

District MMA president Abdul Waheed Qureshi said a writ petition would be filed in the Sindh High Court if an FIR was not registered against the miscreants.
