Dam develops breach

QUETTA, March 6: A breach in the Ismail Torzai dam in the Toba Achakzai area of Qila Abdullah district on Sunday evening inundated dozens of houses in nearby villages, forcing the villagers to move to hills.

According to reports received here from Chaman, the dam developed the breach following torrential rains in the area.

Attempts to contact officials of the district to get an idea bout the extent of damage did not succeed. MPA Majid Khan Achakzai of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party while confirmed the dam breach and told Dawn that water was flowing towards the Zamil dam and if the government did not take immediate measures an overflow from this dam could create havoc.
