4 Kashmiri fighters shot dead

SRINAGAR, Feb 26: Indian troops shot dead four militants in encounters overnight in insurgency-wracked Kashmir, police said on Saturday.

Troops killed the militants in raids on two rebel hideouts in the state's southern snowbound district of Udhampur late Friday, a spokesman said.

"As troops started nearing the hideouts, militants opened fire that was returned, killing four of them," the spokesman said.-AFP
