PESHAWAR, Feb 9: Speakers at a workshop have underlined the need for party organization, leadership, better communications and campaign for involving the masses in the political process.

This was stated by participants of a workshop for capacity building of activists from five political parties held here on Wednesday.

Thirty-five political activists from Pakistan People's Party, Awami National Party, Pakistan Muslim League-N, Jamaat-i-Islami and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam took part in the workshop organized by the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, Tehsil Coordination Council (TCC) and Takhtbai.

Workers and local leaders of the political parties said that better communication links with the masses could engage them in the political process and raise their level of awareness about national and international affairs.

Waris Khan of the TCC said that most of the people, especially those living in far-off areas, didn't have any knowledge about politics, which kept them away from political process in the country.

He said it was high time the masses were educated about national and international politics so that they could play their role in national development.

Tausiq Haider, Director of the Centre for Civic Education, who conducted the workshop, emphasized that people should have access to more information about governance.
