KARACHI, Feb 9: Sher Bano Karim, Additional District and Sessions Judge South, on Wednesday deciding a criminal revision application ordered registration of FIR in case of attempt to kill Asif Ali Zardari.

Mr Zardari was allegedly tortured, his tongue was lacerated and other injuries were caused while he was in custody of CID Civil Lines in 1998 in connection with interrogation of Justice Nizam and Nadeem murder case of 1996.

According to application, accused included former Senator Saifur Rahman, the then Chairman of Ehtesab Bureau, his brother Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, former IG Sindh Rana Maqbool Ahmed, former DIG Karachi Farooq Amin Qureshi and others.

The court ordered that FIR shall be registered during office hours on Wednesday and in compliance of orders, a FIR 16/2005 was registered against the nominated accused under section 324/109 PPC at PS Artillery Maidan.-APP
