KARACHI, Feb 7: The Sindh government has planned to run postgraduate classes in 12 more college of the province, including six colleges of Karachi, said the provincial planning and development minister, Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari, on Monday.

Laying the foundation stone of postgraduate classes in the Government Girls Shaheed-i-Millat Degree College Azizabad, he said the government wanted to raise the ratio of higher education in the province, adding that upgrading of 12 colleges would greatly help in realizing this dream.

The six Karachi colleges, where the postgraduate classes are planned, include besides the Government Girls Shaheed-i-Millat Degree College Azizabad, the Government Girls Mujeebunissa College, Government Girls College New Karachi, Government Women College Frere Road, Government Degree College Korangi No 4, and Government Degree Girls College Lyari, Government Girls College Nazimabad.

Addressing college students, he said that with the start of postgraduate classes, female students of the respective areas would get an opportunity to get higher education near their homes in subjects like Quran and Sunnah, Economics, English and Mathematics.

Under the upgrading plan for the Government Girls Shaheed-i-Millat Degree College Azizabad, eight classrooms would be constructed, in addition to an administration block, library, computer lab, auditorium, canteen, sports and medical rooms and other facilities.

The three-year plan will be completed in Feb 2008 at a cost of Rs43.36 million. The construction area comprises 37,993 sq-ft.
