DHAKA, Feb 6: Speakers at a meeting on Kashmir held here have said that unity among the Muslim countries in the subcontinent and elsewhere in the world is key to foiling conspiracies of anti-Muslim forces.

The meeting was organized by the Bangladesh Nizam-i-Islam Party (BNIP) to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Speaking as the chief guest,Maulana Muhiuddin Khan, who is vice-president of the Islamic Okkiya Jote, said India had occupied Kashmir against the basic principles of the partition of the subcontinent with the blessings of the British.

"In order to liberate their motherland from India, the Kashmiris should get support not only from Muslims but also from all those who believe in freedom, democracy and human rights," he said.

Maulana Muhiuddin said: "I firmly believe that the Kashmiri Muslims will be liberated today or tomorrow. India will not be able to suppress them forever."

BNIP Secretary-General Maulana Abdul Latif Nejami said India was not only continuing illegal occupation of Kashmir but also trying to capture Bangladesh and other neighbouring countries because it sought a return to the pre-partition status for the subcontinent. "In order to liberate Kashmir and save Bangladesh from Indian aggression, Muslims of the subcontinent should unite and foil long-term designs of India," he said.

Muslim Jahan Editor Mustafa Moinuddin Khan said India should be punished for gross violation of human rights in Kashmir.

The speakers said India had no right to keep Kashmir under occupation. They said India was not only violating United Nations resolutions but also its charter on human rights. They urged the international community to help free Kashmir from Indian occupation.-APP
