TOBA TEK SINGH, Feb 6: Reconciliation has been reached between groups of forest minister Dr Ashfaqur Rehman and District Nazim Chaudhry Ashfaq.

A source disclosed that the Nazim had met NSC secretary in Islamabad recently requesting him to ask his cousin Dr Ashfaqur Rehman to resolve differences with him (Ashfaq).

Both were united before the last general election and Ashfaq's nephew MNA Mian Farhan Latif and Dr Ashfaq had contested election as candidates of the Nazim panel. Later, differences had developed among them and the Dr Ashfaq group succeeded in getting the chairmanship of Baitul Maal Committee and DHQ Market Committee.

A public meeting was held last month at TMA Park where speakers close to the District Nazim had severely criticized Dr Ashfaq. Now after reconciliation, both Dr Ashfaq and Chaudhry Ashfaq were once again spotted on the same stage and at the same park on the eve of a Kashmir Day meeting.

The bringing of a joint candidate against Chaudhry Ashfaq for the District Nazim slot seems difficult for the two ruling party MNAs - Chaudhry Amjad Ali Warraich and Riaz Fatyana. However, there was no possibility of reconciliation between Chaudhry Ashfaq and both MNAs in the forthcoming local councils election.
