PESHAWAR, Dec 11: Residents of Hayatabad township have opposed the establishment of a car village announced by the chief minister and have asked the government to shift the project to an open place.

A press release issued here said that the people were already facing numerous problems because of the commercial activities in the township and the setting up of a car village would multiply their miseries.

The release quoting the people of the area said that the burgeoning population of the township has created traffic problems along with others, as the presence of Afghan refugees and their concentration in Hayatabad was itself a hazard.

They said that a large number of refugees, who also sell vegetables and fruits on pushcarts were a constant nuisance.

They said that traffic remained jammed near the Board area, especially from midday till evening.

The residents of the township demanded that proper planning should be made before launching any project in the residential area, the press release said.
