KARACHI, Dec 4: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Saturday that handicraft and traditional products manufactured in Sindh could be exported after value-addition and innovation to earn the much-needed foreign exchange.

The Prime Minister also expressed satisfaction on law and order situation in Karachi and said peace and tranquility would result in economic progress and national development.

He was speaking in a special ceremony at CM House where Sindh Chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim presented traditional Sindhi gifts to the Prime Minister.

These gifts include traditional Sindhi cap, Ajrak, Rilli, Khais, carpet, collection of mystic poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai's "Ganj Risalo" and "Shah Jo Risalo", book "Illustrated History of Sindh" and set of sketches of Sindh's historical places.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan, former caretaker prime minister Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, Governor, State Bank of Pakistan Dr. Ishrat Husain, Federal Ministers Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Babar Khan Ghouri, Ghous Bux Maher, ex-governor Sindh Moinuddin Haider, ex-chief minister Ali Mohammed Mahar, Speaker Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, Nazim Naimatullah Khan and Naib Nazim Tariq Hasan.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday visited Kingri House and met Pir Sahib Pagara.

The prime minister discussed with him the general political situation in the country, and briefed Pir Sahib about his recent visit to SAARC countries.

Shaukat Aziz said that the support and wisdom of Pir Sahib was of great value and the government respects his views and suggestions.-PPI/APP
