RAWALPINDI, Nov 20: More than 100 children gathered near the newly-constructed Committee Chowk underpass to observe the Universal Children's Day here on Saturday.

The event was organized by Progressive Women Association (PWA) and participated by children from different government and private schools of Rawalpindi.

PWA Coordinator Iqbal Janjua said the main objective of observing this day was to attract public attention towards the rights of children.

He said education was a child's basic right. The government should take steps to impart quality education to children in the country, he added.

Children, Mr Janjua said, were our future, adding that if they were provided with good education and their rights, they would be able to shoulder the future responsibilities.

On the occasion, a magic show was also arranged for the children.
