RAWALPINDI, Nov 16: Two persons were killed and 13 others injured in a clash between two groups in Kallar Syedan on Monday, police said.

Mohammad Iqbal, 66, told the police that he along with Ayaz was heading towards Shahbaz Bus Stand on the eve of Eidul Fitr when someone threw a firecracker on the road.

As the firecracker exploded, a group of people started quarrelling with Iqbal, Ayaz and Zafar Mehmood and Gulzar Hussain, who were also heading in the same direction, over the suspicion that they had thrown the explosive firework. However, the issue was settled after sometime.

But on Monday afternoon, the group including Pervaiz, Azmat, Mukhtar, Mohammad Siddique, Danish and Abdul Majeed came to Zafar's village and challenged their rivals.

The police report said Pervaiz and Azmat fired at Gulzar, while Mukhtar fired at Zafar. It said more than 15 people were injured as a result of firing.

Gulzar Hussain died on the spot, while Zafar Mehmood succumbed to injuries while being taken to the hospital.

Two of the accused including Abdul Majeed, who also sustained bullet injuries, have been arrested while raids are underway to nab the other accused.

Meanwhile, a police constable, posted in Quetta, shot himself dead in Bhara Kahu, police said on Monday.

Javaid Iqbal had been living with his in-laws after he developed differences with his parents over distribution of property.

Javaid's mother visited her son to convince him, but he got annoyed and committed suicide by shooting himself in the presence of the family.
