ISLAMABAD, Nov 8: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is establishing 10 additional passport circles across the country to make the agency more effective to control human smuggling.

This was informed at a meeting here on Monday, which was presided over by Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Sherpao on the issue of human smuggling.

The minister said conviction and prosecution of cases should be pursued vigorously and Human Trafficking Ordinance must be amended to control the menace.

Mr Sherpao was informed that the government was establishing model shelter houses to take proper care and look after the women and children, who are directly affected by the human smuggling.

It was decided in the meeting that the FIA would start a mass awareness campaign besides increasing the efforts to bust the gangs involved in the illegal migration.
