KARACHI: BSE announces scholarships

KARACHI, Nov 3: The Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, has invited applications from students of Class X for award of poverty-cum-merit scholarships.

Application forms can be acquired from the research section of the BSE during office hours, and should be submitted, duly filled and verified by head of the institution concerned along with relevant documents, latest by December 10, said a notification of the board.

Applicants should belong to a government or private school recognized by the BSE, must have obtained at least 45 per cent marks in SSC Part-I (Class IX) examinations 2004, and the income of his or her father or guardian should be below Rs50,000 per annum.

Students are required to submit the income certificate of their fathers or guardians with the attested copy of marks sheet of SSC Part-I.

POSTER CONTEST: The BSE has also invited entries for the 14th intra-board science poster contest 2004 for secondary school students. Entries must be submitted latest by November 20. Three selected posters would be sent to the Pakistan Science Foundation - sponsors of the contest.

In the meantime, applications have also been invited for the 14th Intra-Board Science Essay Competition 2004 for secondary school students in Urdu, English and Sindhi on behalf of the Pakistan Science Foundation, Islamabad. The topic of the essay has been decided to be "Genetic Engineering".

The writing competition would be held in Urdu, English and Sindhi on December 7, 8 and 9 respectively at the board office from 11am to 12 noon.
