MIRPURKHAS, Nov 2: A meeting held here on Tuesday approved Rs3.4 million electrification schemes of 10 villages in the district to be carried out under the Khushhal Pakistan Programme.

The meeting also approved 10 schemes of constructing bridges over water distributaries at a cost of Rs1.5 million and two schemes of construction of wells proposed by union council nazims.

DCO Mohammad Siddiq Memon, who presided over the meeting, said the works should be carried out as per specifications and completed in the stipulated period.

He said to avoid hurdles, no-objection certificates should be obtained from landowners before starting development works.

KILLED: A labourer, Ali Ahmad, was killed and another was injured when a roof collapsed on them while they were demolishing the old building of a cinema here on Tuesday.

DIES: An assistant lineman of Hesco, City sub-division, Chan Nawaz, who was injured a week ago while working on an electricity pole in Rajar Colony, died at the Hyderabad Civil Hospital on Monday.
