LAHORE, Nov 2: The Spanish Consortium for Water Treatment, Waste and Energy will send its experts to study the feasibility of establishment of sewage treatment plants in the city in two weeks.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of a consortium delegation with District Nazim Mian Amer here on Tuesday. Wasa Deputy Managing Director Pervaiz Iftikhar was also present on the occasion.

The delegation leader said the experts would present cost effective proposals for safe disposal of the sewage. He said failure of the civic authorities to install a sewage treatment plant anywhere in Pakistan during 57 years after independence provided a cause for concern.

The district Nazim said the City District Government had entered into an agreement for the installation of a composting plant for a part of 4,000 tons of solid waste being generated in the city daily. It was now considering installation of a plant for treatment of sewage before its disposal into the Ravi.
