MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 28: Gazetted and non-gazetted employees of the AJK revenue department, including the assistant commissioners, took out a procession here on Thursday on the fourth day of their state-wide strike against what they alleged unlawful actions of the Ehtesab Bureau.

Two weeks ago, the bureau had arrested assistant commissioner tehsil Sensa, Chaudhry Mohammad Hussain, for his alleged involvement in a corruption case in the Board of Revenue. On Saturday, the bureau arrested AC, Kotli, Sardar Sayaduzzaman for his alleged involvement in another corruption case.

The bureau had also issued arrest warrants for AC, Hattian Bala, Khawaja Abdul Qayyum in the same case but he obtained pre-arrest bail. However, on Monday when Mr Qayyum was in the premises of the high court to get his bail confirmed, police tried to arrest him. The attempt was foiled by lawyers present on the occasion, but the action angered revenue department officials across the AJK.

On Thursday, the officials took out a protest march. "Is it Accountability Law or Pota law," read one of the posters pasted in the district courts, referring to India's controversial Prevention of Terrorism Act.
