HARIPUR, Oct 26: Students of the Polytechnic College on Tuesday blocked the main Karakoram Highway (KKH) near Sera-i-Saleh to protest against staff shortage, dilapidating condition of the college building and non-availability of buses for the students.

After blocking the highway for an hour they, however, agreed to clear the road when the ASP headquarters and the college principal assured them of meeting their demands.

The students of the Sera-i-Saleh polytechnic college were demanding that the college administration should repair some classrooms which were in shabby condition, provide teaching staff and arrange buses for the students.

The protesters said that though the college administration was having massive funds at its disposal, it was reluctant to repair the classrooms and provide transport facilities to the students. They said that the administration was receiving transport funds from the students every year but, but was not arranging buses for them.

The students said that certain departments of the college were short of staff and criticized the administration for not paying heed to the problems.

However, ASP (headquarter) Mohammad Awais Tor and the principal of the college went into parleys with the angry students and assured them of meeting their demands.
