LAHORE, Oct 20: Special Secretary Schools Imtiaz Tajwar has directed all executive district officers (education) and district education officers to response swiftly and take necessary measures to tackle the situation in case of any eventuality in the education department.

These instructions were given in a circular issued by the department.

The secretary observed that a couple of days ago, a serious incident was reported in a section of press according to which a teacher of a Chanan School was kidnapped, gang-rapped and then burnt. She died in hospital. This sad incident has put the department in a state of shock and grief. The occurrence of such type of incidents warrants immediate indulgence of the senior officers working at the district level.

They should swiftly response and extend all possible help and assistance to the aggrieved family as and when such incident takes place in their area of jurisdiction. It is a matter of disgrace for the executive district officer (education) as well as district education officers of Kasur district that they failed to visit the hospital and extend a word of sorrow and grief with the family of the deceased. On his intervention and direction, they visited the residence of the ill-fated teacher.

He further observed: "I am, therefore, to stress and expect from all officers of the education department from the executive district officer to assistant education officer, respectively, to discharge their bounded obligations in such like incidents and visit the affected person/family immediately after the occurrence of such undesirable incidents as well as report to the administrative department. Any exception from these directions shall be taken seriously and action will be taken as per rules/law, he said.
