BANNU, Oct 16: Three people, including an army soldier, were wounded when a bomb planted in a motorcycle rickshaw went off near the Garrison Club in the cantonment area here on Saturday.

The explosion also damaged the wall of the Garrison Club and smashed window-panes of the adjacent houses.

The wounded persons were identified as army sepoy Abid Hussain, Ali Khan and a clerk of the District Coordination Office, Ghulam Qadir. They were taken to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where they were stated to be in critical condition.

The rickshaw was parked near the wall of Polo Ground, where the helipad is located, which is used for sorties on the troubled South Waziristan Agency. The bomb apparently targeted the military installations in the locality.

The bomb exploded just after Zuhr prayers and created panic among the residents.

Police and military officials cordoned off the area and started investigation.

A case has been registered against the unidentified assailants in the Cantonment police station.
