197 candidates in run for NALC elections

GILGIT, Sept 11: The final list of aspirants for election of the Northern Areas Legislative Council has been prepared and 197 candidates out of 206 from five districts have been cleared to contest for 24 seats. The election will be held in October.

The appeals against the rejection of nomination papers would be heard on Monday.

Official sources said that the Northern Areas cabinet would be dissolved on Sunday and all the advisers and deputy chief executive of the Northern Areas would cease to hold their offices.

All the facilities would be withdrawn with immediate effect, except the speaker, who would hold office till the election of the new speaker.
