HYDERABAD, Sept 4: Residents of Gharibabad on Saturday blocked the National Highway and pelted vehicles with stones following the death of a passerby in exchange of fire between two groups of transporters.

Peer Bux was killed when the groups of Adam Panwhar and Siraj, at odds over ownership of Panwhar Coach, traded fire near the anti-corruption police station. His body was taken to the Hyderabad Civil Hospital for postmortem.

The Cantonment police registered a case against Siraj, Peero, Cheena and Javed on the complaint of Ghulam Qadir Kalhoro, brother of the deceased.

The protesting residents demanded shifting of bas stands from Pathan Colony.

They ended their protest after additional DPO Dost Ali Baloch and ASP Syed Fareed Ali arrived at the site and assured them of action against the accused.
