NAWABSHAH, Aug 7: Twelve passengers were injured when a Rawalpindi-bound bus (JB-0476) collided with a truck while overtaking it on the National Highway, near Sakrand, on Saturday.

Eleven of the injured were identified as Zarwali Khan, Mohammad Irshad, Nawaz Hussain, Javed Akhtar, Mohammad Ayub, Mohammad Siddiq, Mohajir, Ghulam Mustafa, Mohammad Siddiq, Ms Andali Khan and Jameel.

They were admitted to the Sakrand Taluka Hospital and People's Medical College Hospital here.

PROTEST: Traffic to upcountry and Karachi remained suspended for one hour when protesters from Mari Jalbani and Mehrabpur union councils blocked the National Highway near Sakrand on Saturday in protest against Hesco for disconnecting power supply to their villages.

Led by Mari Jalbani UC Nazim Gul Mohammad Jalbani, the protesters staged a sit-in and burnt tyres on the highway.

They said that their electric meters had been removed and power supply disconnected. They accused Hesco line superintendent Aslam Khanzada of issuing inflated bills and demanding bribe from consumers.

They called upon the Hesco chief to order an inquiry against the corrupt staff and provide them justice.
