QUETTA, Aug 7: Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee President Syed Taj Agha said on Thursday that the Zarai Taraqiati Bank had framed a policy in contravention of the package for farmers announced by President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

Speaking at a press conference at the press club, he demanded that all dues of the bank against the growers in the drought-affected areas should be waived.

He said the action committee had welcomed the package for farmers but a circular issued by the bank now was against the policy announced by the president.

He said a meeting of the committee had been convened on Aug 12 to determine a course of action on the issue.

He termed the distribution of the 1,215 tubewells granted by the president unfair and stressed that those should be distributed among the deserving farmers affected by drought.
