FAISALABAD, July 24: A drug-addict allegedly axed to death his wife after a minor altercation in his house on Jhang Road on Friday night.

Arshad and his wife Parveen Akhtar exchanged hot words over a domestic issue. Arshad attacked on Parveen with an axe when she was sleeping in her room. She sustained serious wounds and died on way to hospital.

Area police have registered a case against him.

He is still at large.

GUNNED DOWN: Robbers gunned down a youth and injured his father when they put up resistance in Khurrianwala on Friday night.

Police said masked robbers entered the house of Younas, held his family at gunpoint and started collecting valuables. His son Mukhtar put up resistance and overpowered one of the outlaws. The bandits got unnerved and opened indiscriminate fire on the family as a result of which Younas and Mukhtar sustained injuries. They were taken to hospital where Mukhtar died soon after arrival while the condition of Younas was stated to be critical.

Police have registered a case.
