HYDERABAD, July 24: The Academic Council of the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, on Saturdayallowed a last chance to unsuccessful students of 1991-94 batches to appear in an special supplementary examination.

The council meeting was presided over by Vice-chancellor Prof (Dr) A.Q.K. Rajput.

The Academic Council said the decision was taken purely on humanitarian grounds and made it clear this was the last opportunity for students of above batches to clear their examination.

It may be pointed out that a group of students belonging to the 93-batch had been on hunger strike for the last two and a half months, demanding award of degrees.

A large number of students of the university had also staged a demonstration on Friday, requesting the university administration to observe leniency with students of 92 to 96 batches.

Meanwhile, the university registrar notified for the information of candidates who had appeared in the written test on July 19 for different posts, that the names of successful candidates had been displayed at the notice board of the university.

He said that only successful candidates would be called for interview.

SPSC: The controller of examinations, Sindh Public Service Commission, has announced the names of successful candidates who have passed the revenue qualifying departmental examination held in May 2004.
